這篇『My Favorite Country』 是 Emiko 在英文補習班的作業。英文寫作一直是英文補習所重視的，忘記從幾級開始，老師們就會讓學生寫些短篇文章。升上 602 級之後 (603級是最後一級) 文章的長度更長、結構也更加嚴謹。

翻了課本，發現前幾週還教了『Book Report』，這個倒是非常實用。相信經過老師教導之後， Emiko 寫的英文讀後心得一定會更加完整。

這篇 My Favorite Country 是草稿階段，老師尚未修改過，算是原汁原味了。

My Favorite Country

There are many countries in the world.  Which country is your favorite?  I am Taiwanese, no doubt, my favorite country is Taiwan.

Taiwan is in East Asia, it is near China, under Japan and South Korea, over the Pilippines.  Taiwan's area is 36,000 sq.km.  The shape of Taiwan is like a small, long yam.  It is special, isn't it?

Taiwan was a colony in a very long time.  First, the Dutch to land on Tainan in 1624.  Then, the Spainish to land on Taipei in 1626.  In 1642, the Dutch dispatched troops to Taipei and expeled the Spanish to get Taiwan's economy at all.  In 1626, Chinese Zheng Cheng Gong came to Tainan, defreated the Dutch and ruled Taiwan.  But the Qing dynasty took back Taiwan until the war of Jia Wu.  Then, the Japanese occupied Taiwan.  They did some things that bad for Taiwanese, so the Aborgines resisted the Japanese.  The last colonialist of Taiwan was the Chinese again.  They discrimination Taiwanese so much as the 228.  Now, Taiwan is not a colony as before, it is a powerful country of technology -- HTC, Hsinchu Science Partk... they are famous in Taiwan and some of other countries.

Taiwanese's average age is 29, it isn't very young or very old, like Taiwan's current situation -- not so powerful, not very backward.  Taiwan's language are Chinese, Taiwanese, Hakkanese and Aborgines languages.  Chinese is the official language, others are the dialect.  Many people who are the overseas Chinese, they all think Taiwanese are cordial and friendly when they back to Taiwan.  Taiwan is in Asia, so most of the people who live in Taiwan are Asians.

Taiwan's culture is plentiful.  Our festivals are: Chinese New Year, Mid Autumn Festival, Dragonboat Festival and Lantern Festival.  In the Chinese New Year, we eat dinner together, wear new clothes, do spring clean and give money to the children.  In the Mid Autumn Festival, we eat the moon cake, barbecue, eat pomelo and admire the full moon.  In the Dragonboat Festival, we eat the rice triangle, some people row the Dragonboat, we also have the Dragonboat race annualy!  In the Lantern Festival, we can eat the riceball and use the latern for fun.  Taiwan has many famous food like the stinky tofu and the oystear omelette.  Those are really tasty and "Taiwanese".  I think Taiwan's music are the pop music and classic music.  Teens usually like the pop music, adults usually think classic music is better.

Look! Taiwan have a lot of interest.  That is the reason why I think Taiwan is my favorite country, because it is so interesting!
